IN THIS LESSON
Welcome to the course
My name is Wendy Selvig, and I am delighted to be your instructor and the writer of this course! I am a Certified Aromatherapist Level 2 and a Certified Raindrop Technique Specialist. For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of working as a paid researcher for the Aids Research & Assistance Institute, where I’ve focused on discovering and sharing natural support and solutions for health journeys. I am excited to embark on this learning experience with you and explore the wonderful world of aromatherapy together!
Your Certification
The certification you receive with the completion of this course is “Certified Aromatherapy – Level 1”, meaning the individual has completed a recognized training program in aromatherapy and has demonstrated the knowledge and skills required to practice aromatherapy professionally. This certification involves studying essential oils, their therapeutic uses, and safety protocols. It signifies that the person is qualified to use aromatherapy techniques in a professional setting, such as in wellness centers, spas, or private practice.
It will provide you with 50 continuing education credits and is immediately recognized by the Natural Therapies Certification Board (NTCB.org).
You may wish to join the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy in addition to getting your certification. To do this, follow these steps:
To be able to join the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) as a Level-1 Certified Aromatherapist, you must also show proof of completion of Anatomy & Physiology 1 from an accredited institution, or the equivalent class taken in addition to the Level 1 Course, from a NAHA approved school. If you are an existing health professional, you will need to upload a copy of your degree certificate, current medical licensing, or unofficial transcripts for proof. Anatomy and Physiology Level 1 is a 3-4 credit undergraduate class which typically covers: Tissue & The Integumentary System; Skeleton, Joints & The Skeletal System; Muscle, Muscle Tissue & The Muscular System; Nervous Tissue & The Central Nervous System, The Peripheral Nervous System, The Autonomic Nervous System; The Endocrine System; Cellular Structure & Types, Basic Chemistry. Many universities and colleges offer this course in classroom and on line. 1 college credit = 15-16 classroom hours, or self-paced online which can often be completed more quickly.
Your teacher is Wendy Selvig, who is a Level 2 NAHA Certified Professional Aromatherapist (NCPA)®
Your Certification: Upon completion of this course and getting a passing grade of 85% or more (grades taken from your 5 Case Studies and the Final Exam), you will be issued a certificate of completion in “Certified Aromatherapy – Level 1”. The Natural Therapies Certification Board acknowledges this course and certification right away.
After completing this course, and without the NAHA membership, you may list “C.A.” after your name, standing for “Certified Aromatherapist.” If you apply for and receive the NAHA membership, you could put (NCA)® behind your name.
NOTE: I am submitting this course to the NAHA in December of 2025 to become a NAHA approved school. I joined NAHA as a level 2 member at the end of December 2024 and by their rules, I have to wait a year to submit my course for approval. I spoke to the NAHA however and they said to please have any of my students who wants to join before December 2025 to go ahead and apply, that they approve “non-approved” courses too - they are going to see if the course is up to the NAHA standard, (which this course is because I have developed it to be according to their requirements). It also will go well for your application because the teacher of your course is NAHA approved. You shouldn’t have any problems becoming a member before December of 2025 if you desire to be.
