Additional Suggested RESOURCES:
The reference books listed below are NOT included with the Aromatherapy Level 1 Certification Course. They are not required but are recommended for your education and library to help you with your practice. You might print this list out and put them on your “to get” list for the beginning of your Aromatherapy library!
Every aromatherapist needs good reference guides. As issues come up, you need trusty resources to be able to look up conditions and know how to guide clients. All three of these books are good. To start your library, choose 1 (from numbers 1-3) to have a good reference guide, making it your goal to eventually get all 3!
REFERENCE GUIDES (#1-3)
1. Battaglia, Salvatore, The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy, third edition, Zilmere QLD, Australia, The Perfect Potion, 2018. (Amazon.com)
2. The Essential Oil Reference Guide, Legacy Edition (2024), Seeds of Thyme Publisher, 2024. (Recommended if your choice of essential oils is the brand “Young Living” as it is a comprehensive guide to all of their oils and blends and applications of them). (https://www.seedsofthyme.com/) This is my preferred reference out of all listed here!
3. The Complete Aromatherapy and Essential Oils Handbook for Everyday Wellness Paperback – September 11, 2014, by Nerys Purchon (Author), Lora Cantele (Author)
OTHER RESOURCES:
4. Gentle Babies: Essential Oils and Natural Remedies for Pregnancy, Childbirth, Infants, and Young Children. 10th Edition, Starkey, Debra. Growing Healthy Homes Publishing, 2024. (GrowingHealthyHomes.com). This guide is written by an aromatherapist and herbalist who writes specifically for handling oils with babies and young children. I know Debra personally and have trusted her wisdom for years. This book is a great “go-to” for questions for pregnancy, delivery, and infant applications. Not needed for this class, but definitely needed in your library!
5. Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils, Carolyn L. Mein, D.C., (Amazon.com). This book is an important handbook for understanding which emotions are tied to what organs or body parts. It has a process to help you learn how to release trauma with essential oils. Carolyn understands Chinese medicine and incorporates it superbly in this book. This book is required in my Emotions: Understanding the Science class. It is not needed for this class, but it has been so transformational for me in my aromatherapy journey, I wanted to recommend it for your library.
6. The Aroma Freedom Technique: Using Essential Oils to Transform Your Emotions and Realize Your Heart’s Desire, by Dr. Benjamin Perkus. This book details the powerful relationship between scent and emotion and provides step-by-step instructions for the Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT). AFT is a simple but effective technique for using pure essential oils, combined with intention and awareness, to transform negative thoughts, feelings, and memories that may be holding you back. Dr. Benjamin Perkus is a Clinical Psychologist. This book is not needed for this course, but again, it is a powerful tool in helping people use essential oils with psychiatric applications in releasing emotional trauma and emotional blockages. I have experienced personal freedom with this technique. I just wanted you to know about it for your library.
This course requires serious commitment to pass, with a minimum score of 85% on the final exam needed for certification. The material is straightforward, and with attention and effort, you should have no trouble succeeding.
Each lesson includes multiple-choice quiz questions. First, answer these from memory, then use your notes to review and correct your responses, reinforcing your understanding through instant feedback.
After completing the quiz, use the provided link at the end of each module to submit your answers via Google Forms. These submissions, along with any questions or comments, will be sent to me for review. I will grade the quizzes and follow up with you as needed. Quizzes don’t affect your grade and serve as a tool to assess your understanding, so don’t stress over mistakes.
The final exam will draw heavily from the quiz questions. Mastering these questions will ensure your success. Confidently knowing the quiz content by memory is the key to passing the final exam. I want you to succeed and will guide you as I follow up with you after each Google Form Quiz.
You can retake the final exam once without fee. After that, each retake is a $25 fee.
